A small, hard-working department that operates from some of the nicest Science labs. We have 5 dedicated Science teachers that specialise in each of the 3 Science disciplines, backed up by 2 hard working technicians. Science have constantly achieved some of the top grades in the school. We are proud of our success and are confident that we will continue to be the beacon of success across the School.
Miss Trainor-Roulstone
Head of Science

Miss Trainor-Roulstone has stamped her mark on the Science Deptartment since her arrival, recently earning herself a promotion to Head of Science. She brings a fresh and bubbly enthusiasm into the department and is willing to try out a range of new things to ensure the students get the most from her lessons.

Mrs Malpass - Physics specialist

Mrs Malpass has a sense of daring-do and draws from her wealth of military experience as well as being a keen surfer and fitness enthusiast. Mrs Malpass adopts a dynamic approach to her teaching and is often seen teaching forces with the use of go-karts and skateboards.

Miss Brett - Physics specialist

Mrs Brett is a seasoned campaigner in Science teaching and has brought a huge depth of knowledge to the Science Dept. She has a passion for numbers, figures and Maths. Pip has an eye for sparkly stuff and can find awesome jewellery hidden at the bottom of a pile of old trinkets. 

Mrs Godwin - Biology Specialist

Mrs Godwin has returned to Holsworthy as a teacher, after gaining valuable teaching experience in the South East and in schools across South Devon. She is passionate about all aspects of Biology, bringing knowledge from her background in marine and general evolutionary biology into her lessons wherever possible. Mrs Godwin has a particular interest in chicken keeping and can (and will!) talk about them at length when not teaching Science.

Mr Brown

New to the science department at HCC, Mr Brown is an experienced teacher with many years’ experience in schools, colleges and university in London and the Home Counties.  Combining a passion for science and sport, Mr Brown is highly competitive and challenges all learners to constantly do their best and achieve their potential. Developing a growth mindset and a positive attitude to learning is a crucial part of Mr Brown’s lessons that supports success both in and beyond school.
